Band 7 Specialist MSK Physiotherapist
Vacancies have arisen for highly specialist MSK Physiotherapists to join our team at Birmingham Heartlands physiotherapy outpatient department, based at the 100million state-of-the-art Heartlands Treatment Centre outpatient complex. You will be expected to manage a complex caseload of patients, undertake specialist clinics working within MSK and T&O as required and could have opportunity to work within FCP clinics as needed.
You must have extensive post registration experience, of which significant years have been in MSK outpatients in an acute NHS organisation, be keen to develop your own skills and assist with the development of the staff, students and department, including teaching, audit and service development.
Possessing excellent communication, demonstrating managerial and team working skills as well as being approachable, flexible and well organised is essential, as is an ability to lead, meet deadlines, problem solve and to prioritise appropriately, while setting high standards of excellence and safety in patient care.
We are looking for a candidate who is enthusiastic, highly motivated and passionate about MSK services. This is an opportunity for experienced clinicians looking to move into a more senior position, or for candidates who are looking to develop their clinical and leadership experience further.

Main duties, tasks & skills required
To deliver advanced Physiotherapy assessment, advice and treatment of patients and act as a source of expertise to fellow clinicians, Trust managers, Healthcare Professionals and other services internal and external to the Trust as required.
To lead in the advanced therapeutic assessment, management and treatment of MSK patients, possibly with diverse presentations and complex physical and psychological conditions including pain and rheumatology to develop and deliver an individualised specialist treatment programme
To work under the supervision of Consultants in clinic settings as/if required and to assist in the 18 week targets. Site of working will be flexible based on the service need (A main site will be identified)
To lead in training and development of clinical practice and service. To undertake clinical audits and evaluation of evidence based practice, initiating/participating in research within specialist area.
To use a high degree of analytical skills and judgment to plan, develop and implement strategic and operational management and delivery of the therapy service, in collaboration with Lead therapist and Managers.
To manage, supervise and appraise staff and students within the specialist area

Qualifications
Essential
*Good standard of general education including GCSE English and maths grade c or above
*A Levels or equivalent qualification
*Degree or diploma in Physiotherapy
*Registered with HCPC
*Evidence of CPD including recent post graduate training relevant to clinical speciality
Desirable
*Evidence of leadership training
*Fieldwork Educator’s certificate or attendance at Clinical Educators Course
Experience

*Substantial and relevant post-registration experience, providing a broad range of experience in core areas within a healthcare setting.
*Significant Experience in MSK within various settings of the MSK field e.g. Acute / Specialist clinics for e.g. Pain, Rheumatology
*Highly developed professional clinical skills.
*Experience of effective staff management and leadership
*Interdisciplinary working.

*Implementation of change management principles.
*Experience of dealing with people who display inappropriate behaviours e.g. verbal or physical aggression, in sensitive and potentially hostile situations
