The Credit Control Department at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust (UHBFT) provides a sales ledger and credit control service to seven organisations processing and collecting sales invoices with a total value of circa £2.5bn per annum. We are looking for an experienced Sales Ledger Officer / Credit Controller to join our team on a permanent basis.
This role involves both sales ledger administration, to include the creating of new debtor accounts and the raising of invoices and credit notes, along with the associated debt collection work.
We are based 5 minutes walk from 5 ways train station and can offer flexible working hours with the opportunity to work from home two days per week after initial training has been completed, subject to service delivery requirements.
Main duties, tasks & skills required
The successful candidate will take ownership of their own portfolio of debtor accounts ensuring new accounts are raised accurately, sales invoices are raised in a timely manner and unpaid debts are followed up, resolving debtor disputes as they arise and escalating problem accounts to management.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential to success in the role, along with an ability to prioritise your own workload and work with minimal supervision. Experience of using Microsoft products Excel, Outlook and Word would be advantageous.

Qualifications
Essential
Educated to at least GCSE level or equivalent to include grade 9 – 4 English and Maths
Further study to NVQ 4 in Finance/ Customer Care or equivalent knowledge, training and experience
Experience
Essential
Current Credit Control experience in a commercial environment.
Evidence of working successfully in a team environment
Desirable
Knowledge of UHB departmental structure and staff.
