The UHB Clinical Trials Pharmacy is a forward-thinking, dynamic and innovative team with a strong desire to improve outcomes for our patients.
We are delighted to offer an exciting opportunity to apply for a Senior Assistant Technical Officer to work with the Trials Pharmacy Team.
The successful applicant will manage the clinical trial medicines dispensed to patients recruited to clinical trials within the Trust. You will have the opportunity to work with a dynamic, multidisciplinary team supporting the provision of the reception and dispensing services for both in-patient and out-patients within the Trials Pharmacy.
The role requires someone eager to learn, able to organize and prioritise their own work to meet deadlines, and able to work using their own initiative.
Main duties, tasks & skills required
The main responsibilities of the post holder will be:
– to provide full and comprehensive administrative support.
– to perform a variety of general pharmacy duties under the supervision of a pharmacist or technician in all aspects of clinical trials medicine management including ordering, receipting deliveries, dispensing and temperature monitoring of clinical trial medicines.
– to be involved in maintaining financial records, raising invoices, completing drug accountability activities and will network with research teams across the trust and with external representatives.
– be able to deal with enquires in an efficient, polite and courteous manner. Providing a caring and helpful service to other members of staff, patients and the general public.
You will lead in providing excellent customer service, acting as a role model to other members of the dispensary team.

Qualifications
Essential
*GCSE grade C/4 or above in Mathematics and English (or equivalent)
*NVQ level 2 Certificate in Pharmacy Service Skills (QCF), BTEC Level 2 Certificate in Pharmaceutical Science
or
*Accredited Dispensing Assistants Course (NPA)
Desirable
*Previous experience within a Hospital Pharmacy setting
*Experience in staff training
*Working Knowledge of JAC pharmacy system
*Knowledge of drugs, side effects & where to find further information
Experience
Essential
*Post NVQ level 2 qualification developmental experience of a range of dispensing with formal training and annual revalidated accreditation as a dispenser
*Understanding of pharmacy related computer systems
*Understanding of Health and Safety at Work, manual handling and COSHH
*Understanding of dispensing, stock control and supply systems and processes
*Knowledge of stock control systems
*Knowledge of code of practice/customercare
*Understands the need for delivering a cost effective service and the required work practices to reduce waste
