This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Paediatric Physiotherapist who is currently working or looking to specialise in the field of MSK. We are looking for someone who is motivated to help grow and develop the service for children aged 5-16years old.
The individual should have a depth of paediatric physiotherapy experience with a special interest in paediatric MSK and orthopaedics.
As well as a clinical caseload, candidates will have responsibility for the training and supervision of junior staff.
You would be based at Heartlands Hospital but expected to work cross site at Good Hope and Solihull Hospital as required.
We would consider a Paediatric Physiotherapist who is currently at a Band 6 level but may require further training and development to specialise further in MSK.
Main duties, tasks & skills required
-You will complete specialist physiotherapy assessments and provide ongoing advice and treatments for children over 5 years old with MSK problems.
-You will assist with the management of the Paediatric MSK Physio team including triaging referrals and dealing with queries form referrers, parents and other members of the MDT
-To provide supervision and teaching to Band 6 and 5s, students and support workers.
-To drive improvement in clinical and professional practice and performance within the team, utilising current research and evidence-based practice.
-To act as a source of expertise, demonstrating advance knowledge and skills in the role and educate other health care professionals.
-To manage data and use this to guide improvements in the Paediatric MSK Service.

Qualifications
Essential
*Good standard of general education including English language and mathematics, A levels or equivalent
*Degree in Physiotherapy
*Registered with HCPC as a Physiotherapist.
*Evidence of relevant postgraduate training in specialist area
Desirable
*Leadership training
*Postgraduate advanced accredited training within specialist area
*Registered member of the Chartered society of Physiotherapists
*Registered member of Association of Paediatric Chartered Physiotherapists
Experience
Essential
*Relevant postgraduate experience in specialist areas relevant to the post
*Experience of NHS based work
*Evidence of CPD maintained in a portfolio including recent courses relevant to Musculoskeletal physiotherapy
*Evidence of IT skills
*A range of suitable experience of working within a Primary Care setting and/or acute Musculoskeletal outpatient paediatric setting
*Ability to use Musculoskeletal clinical skills to systematically diagnose/assess patient/client problem.
*To understand and evaluate complex situations and information to formulate an appropriate course of action. The ability to frequently modify planned activity to suit the need of the individual
*Experience of paediatric Musculoskeletal physiotherapy with management of complex patients
*Experience of effective staff management and leadership
*Experience of managing students at clinical tutor and supervisor levels
*Experience of training staff groups at all levels
*Evidence of working effectively in partnership with others within multi-disciplinary teams and across agencies
Desirable
*Experience of conducting or being involved in audit, implementing outcome measures and/or research in the specialist area.
*Experience of management of paediatric patients requiring NIV
*Experience of providing Musculoskeletal physiotherapy care within a paediatric HDU setting
*Experience of managing tracheostomy patients
* Considerable experience of NHS work
*Working knowledge of Government initiatives, NSF’s etc.
