An exciting development opportunity has presented for a motivated and committed individual to develop their leadership skills in this management role. We are looking for an astute Pharmacy Technician to join our diverse team and lead dispensary services at Heartlands Hospital.
This developmental post gives an existing band 5 Pharmacy Technician the opportunity to develop into a band 6 Specialist Pharmacy Technician within dispensary services.
The post holder will support the pharmacy operations and performance management team with ensuring the dispensary meets its quality, activity, and financial targets whilst developing and optimising new and existing processes.
Along with another Senior Support Pharmacy Technician the post holder will manage the dispensary workload and supervise staff on a day-to-day basis, support with the training and development of Pharmacy Assistants and Technicians and organise cover for any unexpected staff absences to ensure a safe, effective, and timely service in accordance with current legislation and guidance.
With the support of the Heartlands Pharmacy leadership team, as a Specialist Pharmacy Technician – Dispensary Services the post holder will be responsible for the line management of dispensary staff. Training will be provided to support line manager development.

Main duties, tasks & skills required
With a patient focussed approach, you will:
Provide overall leadership and service development for dispensary with the provision of complete pharmaceutical care to patients.
Lead, motivate and supervise a team of registered and support staff, ensuring regular and effective communication.
Plan and coordinate the dispensary work, including prioritising activities to respond to changing circumstances, allocating and providing sufficient resources and support.
Support the management of patient services in coordinating daily, late night, weekend, and Bank Holiday rosters.
Monitor the service against agreed plans and to take prompt corrective action when improvements are identified.
Ensure training needs of dispensary staff are met by co-coordinating suitable training of the standard required.
Oversee HR management of staff including absence, leave, appraisals, and performance.
Key Person Specification Requirements:
Registered Pharmacy Technician with significant post-qualification experience in a hospital setting.
Accredited Checker Technician
The ability to lead and motivate a team.
A flexible approach to accommodate the needs of the service.
Excellent influencing and communication skills.
This post offers in-service development training and the opportunity to gain valuable skills in a senior role. A requirement to participate in evenings, weekends, and bank holidays on a rotational basis will be necessary.

Qualifications
Essential
* Knowledge of pharmaceutical technical procedures for specialist area to degree or equivalent level acquired though training, NVQ3, BTEC in pharmaceutical science or equivalent
* Dispensing Accuracy Accreditation. West Midland’s scheme or equivalent.
* Evidence of Continued Professional Development
* Professional Registration with the GPhC
* Accredited Checker Technician (National Framework)
Experience
Essential
* Significant post-qualification experience in a hospital setting as a registered Pharmacy technician.
* Experience of the specialist function for area of responsibility.
* Experience in delivering training and supervision of others.
* Experience of planning workload according to departmental priorities.
* Knowledge of Good Distribution Practice (GDP), MHRA licensing requirements,COSHH.
* Demonstrates responsibility for complying with agreed personal development programme to meet set knowledge and competencies.
* Understanding of clinical governance and its implications for service including quality and audits.
* Experience in staff management.
* Experience of developing work processes and associated procedures.
