The Assistant Accountant will play a crucial role in supporting the finance function, contributing to the overall success and growth of the organization. Responsibilities include assisting in the production of management accounts, conducting variance analysis, preparing reports and budgets, managing ledgers, overseeing payroll, and resolving financial discrepancies. The ideal candidate will have proven experience as an Assistant Accountant, be part-qualified or qualified by experience, and have strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

Position Overview:
As an Assistant Accountant, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the finance function, contributing to the overall success and growth of the organisation. This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated professional to become an integral part of a thriving team.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the production of management accounts.
- Conduct variance analysis and provide insights into financial performance.
- Prepare accurate and timely reports and present findings to the directors.
- Prepare budgets and forecasts to support strategic decision-making.
- Play a key role in month-end and year-end close processes.
- Manage sales and purchase ledgers effectively.
- Handle accruals, prepayments, and journal entries.
- Oversee payroll for staff members.
- Set up and verification of new subcontractors
- Inputting data through COINS system monthly.
- Raising manual payments (BACS, CHAPS) as required.
- Collaborate with internal teams to resolve financial discrepancies.
- Responsible for CIS tax deductions, their calculation and back up documentation.
- Contribute to process improvement initiatives within the finance department.
To be considered for the role of Assistant Accountant, you will require:
- Proven experience as an Assistant Accountant or similar role.
- Part-qualified or qualified by experience.
- Proficient in the use of accounting software Xero Accounting is beneficial.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
