Role/Mission 

An extremely exciting opportunity for candidates to undertake a Lean Manufacturing apprenticeship within the fast growing and innovative Medical Technology sector.  The opportunity comes with a clear roadmap for career progression and incremental pay reviews during the 18 month apprenticeship, then onto the organisations 3 level skills based reward scheme.  

The core mission of the Apprentice Product Technician is to learn all manufacturing processes for the full Inovus product range, supported by product engineers and the company’s Operations and Finance Director. The role will include learning about and performing critical manufacturing tasks, including: 

  • Processing acrylic plastics and producing acrylic sub-assemblies.  
  • Performing production level 3D printing processes, including the post-processing of printed parts, such as polishing and dyeing.  
  • Producing medical models using silicone and pigments, casting materials into moulds and assembling models.  
  • Assembling mechanical and electronic components for the company’s flagship LapAR simulator.  
  • Assembling electrical components, such as circuit boards for cameras, using soldering irons and pick and place machinery.  
  • Labelling products accurately, maintaining stock levels (stock control) and taking an active role in the goods-in and goods-out processes. 
  • Fulfilling company orders by packaging simulators and products appropriately prior to dispatch working with sales and marketing colleagues where required.  
  • Working within a 6S Lean Manufacturing environment with skills development of key lean skills and techniques

Local and easily commutable to St Helens (WA9 5AA) you will want to work in a small team environment for a globally recognised medical technology innovator. 

Minimum Education/ Experience Requirements: 

  • The minimum qualification standards for this role are five GCSEs A*-C. 
  • Desire to work within manufacturing role with examples of making and designing components and products desirable 
  • Examples of using laser cutters, working with silicone materials, 3D printing and assembling electrical components would be advantageous but not mandatory.  
  • We are looking for a highly driven individual with a strong motivation to expand their skill set to add value to our growing manufacturing team.  
  • Fluency in written & spoken English required and examples of employability key skills development (e.g CV, handling data, accurate reading and writing and communication skills).
