48Job Description:Are you an experienced transport professional looking for an exciting opportunity to lead and manage a dynamic team? Our client is seeking a dedicated and proactive Transport First Line Manager to join their team on the night shift in the Stoke-on-Trent area. In this pivotal role, you will oversee night operations, ensuring efficient and timely transportation services while maintaining the highest standards of safety and customer satisfaction. Main duties of this Transport First Line Manager role:
- Support and promote a strong safety culture in the transport operation
- Understand roles and responsibilities for yourself and your team
- Be clear on objectives and KPIs
- Review and adjust daily plans as needed
- Schedule and conduct 1-2-1s with direct reports
- Manage and resolve daily transport issues
- Brief and debrief subcontractors starting and finishing on site
- Deputise for the transport manager on daily calls when needed
- Handle accident and breakdown management
- Ensure and check pre-shift yard checks and defect process
- Be the main point of contact for all drivers during your shifts
- Communicate productivity and direct hours targets to the team
- Assign and manage work via TMS, ensuring system compliance
Skills required for this Transport First Line Manager role:
- Experience in logistics is advantageous
- Proven experience in a transport office
- Knowledge of transport legal compliance
- Strong supervisory skills
- Target driven mind-set
- Proficient in computer use
- Excellent team player
- Effective communication skills
- Strong problem solving skills
- Ability to work independently and make decisions
- Details orientated and highly organised
