68Job Description:We are currently seeking a Senior Process Controller to join Thames Water permanently.

  • You will be based at Shalford, Guildford – GU4 8BW.
  • We are offering a salary of up to £37,000 depending on skills and experience.
  • You will be working 38 hours per week.
  • A company Van and a fuel card are provided.

What you’ll be doing

  • Remote monitoring and control of a range of water treatment processes via SCADA, such as abstraction, filtration, UV, and disinfection.
  • Carrying out sampling and related analysis to ensure compliance with internal standards and external regulations.
  • Manual fault finding and intervention to maintain the treatment process or customer supply. You will also have to respond to emergencies, whether this be processing failures or power failures. In such circumstances, you will remain calm and follow established procedures to escalate, and then stabilise the process or isolate/identify the issue in hand.
  • Comply with operational standards, completing necessary documentation including round sheets. Supporting other technicians in training and knowledge to keep a high standard across the team.
  • Taking responsibility for your own Health and Safety and Health and Safety on site. You will highlight safety observations and take action to make the area safe where possible. You may be required to contribute to risk assessments and procedures that contribute to improving Health and Safety standards on site. Expected to complete audits of sites, processes and technicians.
  • Liaise with other departments, particularly Water Quality, Maintenance, and Strategic Control, to find solutions for issues, deliver the best results for the site and ensure PRO values are met.
  • Maintain own technical knowledge/Training and keep up to date with changes in procedures and asset standards.
  • Support project work to help improve the sites.
  • You will be on a standby rota which responds to alarms in a reasonable period.

What you should bring to the role

  • We are looking for someone who has Process and Water Treatment experience and is hands-on and practical with impeccable attention to detail and troubleshooting skills.
  • You should have experience of lone working and will be willing to work in breathing apparatus in challenging conditions.
  • Basic literacy, numeracy, and computer skills are essential as you will need to use email and operate plant computers/SCADA equipment.
  • LTO desirable.
  • Due to the nature of the role a current UK driving licence is required.
