*About the Role*
Our client is seeking a *Senior Service and Support Engineer* to join a dynamic and growing service team. In this role, you’ll be the technical point of contact for key clients, providing both remote and on-site support for industrial automation systems. You will take ownership of support contracts, conduct fault finding, and help maintain uptime for critical manufacturing equipment.
The role will require travel throughout the UK, so someone based in the Midlands would be ideal.
*Key Responsibilities*
* Manage dedicated customer support contracts
* Renew and maintain support contracts with clients
* Act as key liaison with client engineering teams
* Provide second-line support and fault resolution
* Conduct site surveys and routine equipment checks
* Diagnose and support PLC/control systems (Siemens, Allen Bradley, Mitsubishi, Omron)
* Participate in the on-call rota for urgent breakdowns
* Maintain documentation and contribute to continuous improvement
* Source new and obsolete components when required
* Implement and maintain remote access solutions
* Ensure health & safety compliance on client sites
*Requirements*
*Essential:*
* Completed electrical engineering apprenticeship
* Experience with Siemens, Allen Bradley, Mitsubishi, Omron platforms
* Understanding of safety circuits and high-level fault finding
* Strong communication and report-writing skills
* Full UK driving licence
* Willingness to travel across the UK
* Able to work under pressure, solve problems logically, and meet tight deadlines
* Dynamic risk assessment and safe isolation training
*Desirable:*
* HNC/HND or equivalent
* FMCG or SCADA experience
* Experience writing and reviewing RAMS
* Step 5 familiarity
* Ability to mentor apprentices and deliver presentations
* Familiarity with IPAF
*Advantageous:*
* Formal PLC training
* Working knowledge of SQL or database interrogation
* IOSH / PASMA certification
