IT Coordinator Position Description

Florida State University International Programs has offered study abroad opportunities for US students in London since 1971. With a campus located centrally in Bloomsbury, our students come to London to study a diverse range of courses as an integral part of their undergraduate liberal arts degree. Florida State University ranks 10th among US institutions overall for study abroad participation and is 1st amongst public universities for long-term study abroad enrollments.

FSU IP is looking for a full-time IT Coordinator to plan and manage the university’s desktop user support and assist in the university library. The post-holder will be responsible for liaising with students, faculty, staff, and clients, helping to shape IT requirements to suit development needs on the campus. They will also work with external suppliers to ensure continuous and consistent delivery of IT, manage and mentor students in the provision of library services.

This position also includes support for the essential functions for the FSU London library, such as cataloguing and circulation. The post-holder will be expected to contribute to the shaping of the University’s IT strategy, adopt a proactive approach to problem-solving, and serve the needs of a diverse community of users. The post-holder will report to the IT Manager. As a study abroad campus, staff are sometimes required to work some evening/weekend hours, and to be on call for off-site technical support as required.

Location: Bloomsbury, London

Hours: 40 hours per week including, including a one-hour lunch break. Any evening/weekend overtime is compensated with time off in lieu.

Salary: £30,000 – £35,000 per year (commensurate with experience)

Primary Support:

  • Desktop support in offices and classrooms
  • Audio-visual support
  • Printers and scanner support
  • Creation of student and faculty computer accounts Wi-Fi network access support
  • Assistance in the management of crisis situations which may involve technical hardware or software issues
  • Issue and discharge library stock.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and connect audio-visual equipment Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot FSU London’s network servers, lab computers, staff computers, wireless networking, and classroom-based IT facilities
  • Provide printer/scanner troubleshooting and maintenance
  • Assist with cybersecurity vulnerability remediations Deliver IT training plans for staff
  • Manage library inventories with guidance from the IT Manager
  • Provide support and guidance for student workers in the library
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of Florida State University computer and network policies
  • Liaise with external hardware and software support providers
  • Assist with introducing university IT services to incoming students and faculty
  • Provide support for special events, such as public lectures and events held at FSU London

Required Skills, Qualification and Experience:

  • An excellent communicator, able to explain technical tasks to end users in easy-to-understand terms, as well as creating documentation and user guides.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
  • Ability to convey technical information to non-technical users Microsoft Windows 11, Microsoft Office 2019 & 365, Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Active Directory
  • Experience with Apple MacOS and iOS PC Patch Management Asset inventory management
  • Knowledge of and experience with desktop imaging and deployment Server and networking experience
  • Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in IT support or a related field IT qualification or experience within a similar IT role
  • Permanent right to work in the UK

Desirable Skills, Qualification and Experience:

  • Degree level education Microsoft Certified Endpoint Administrator Associate or similar Microsoft Power Platform certifications(s) and/or experience with Microsoft SharePoint
  • Experience in an academic setting
  • Demonstrable understanding of the US higher education system ITIL 4 Foundation certification or familiarity with ITIL concepts
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Copilot and similar AI Language models
  • Experience with IP Telephony
  • Experience with Paxton Access Control
