What you’ll be doing

Join the House of Commons as a Building Services Technical Officer within the Parliamentary Maintenance Services Team (PMST) and play a key role in maintaining one of the most iconic estates in the world. From the historic Palace of Westminster to the modern Portcullis House, you’ll be part of a team responsible for preserving a UNESCO World Heritage site while ensuring Parliament’s buildings remain safe, functional, and fit for the 21st century.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a background in building fabric maintenance, minor works, or refurbishment projects to apply their technical expertise in a truly unique environment. You’ll work across a wide range of Parliamentary outbuildings, managing building fabric repairs, specifying works, and supervising contractors, with a particular focus on delivering actions from Accessibility Audit surveys and Quadrennial Defect reports.

This role is offered on a hybrid working basis, with an expectation of you spending 40% of your time in the office.

What we’re looking for.

  • A background in building services, construction, or site management, with a commitment to developing your technical and leadership skills.

  • A proactive approach to safety, planning, and problem-solving, ensuring work is delivered efficiently and to a high standard.
