We have an exciting opportunity for someone who has significant experience of and an interest in working with Secondary pupils with social, emotional and communication needs (including Autism, ADHD and pupils with a trauma background). You will work as a Secondary Behaviour Co-Lead (alongside our current Behaviour Lead) at Motspur Park to cover maternity leave from November 2025 for 9-12 months with the potential to extend.

The school currently adopts a holistic, nurturing and transdisciplinary approach to behaviour management, ensuring that behaviour strategies are individualised and child focused. Our behaviour management aims to link and to embed long-term positive behaviour outcomes. Our approach to behaviour management is therapeutic in nature and includes restorative justice principles and attachment aware and trauma responsive practice.

Ideal for candidates who want to:

  • Extend their experience of working with pupils with a wide range of neurodivergent profiles
  • Specialise in neuro-affirmative practices and trauma informed approaches
  • Extend and develop leadership skills, directly working with the senior leadership team
  • Work closely with a transdisciplinary team including a specialist mental health and wellbeing team, speech and language therapists, occupational therapists and art therapists
  • The opportunity for continuous professional development with a generous CPD allowance 

 The ideal candidate will have:

  • Extensive experience of leading on holistic behaviour support in school, actively managing groups of children and young people and coping with complex behavioural needs.
  • Experience of actively managing and supporting staff with therapeutic behaviour management, intervening where appropriate.
  • Ability to work with the Head of Pastoral Care, Phase Leads and the wider behaviour team, the Mental Health and Wellbeing Team across sites to develop relevant policies, to deliver training, and to manage behaviour data.
  • A strong working knowledge of current behaviour theories and behaviour strategies, a relational approach to behaviour support (the neuro-sequential model), PACE and restorative practices.
  • The role may suit someone with a background in Teaching, Speech & Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy or Behaviour Management, along with experience of working collaboratively within a trans-disciplinary setting.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required, and the successful applicant will have an ability to work flexibly and independently, as well as be an integral and valued member of the wider trans-disciplinary team.
  • You will be patient, friendly and will have the ability to build good working relationships with colleagues, children, teachers, parents, therapists, and carers and other external stakeholders.
  • Continuing Professional Development (CPD) is supported.
