Role: Deputy Engineering Manager

Brief

The position of Deputy Engineering Manager is a new position that reflects the growing volume and complexity of tasks in our Engineering team. While still being responsible for core design engineering work, there is also a significant element of leadership and management involved. Reporting to, and working closely with, our Engineering Manager, you will be expected to take leadership of defined tasks as well as assist with the general management of the team. The Design Engineer element will include carrying out engineering tasks using our Siemens SolidEdge CAD system, leading technical development of new customer programmes, in-house projects and providing support for existing products in service.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Engineering Manager with all aspects of leading the Engineering team
  • Own and lead defined tasks, including process improvement and supporting our forthcoming AS9100 implementation.
  • Carry out 3D CAD development, working with customer surface/packaging data, from concept through to serial production. Create high quality, concise Engineering Drawings & progress these through our Engineering Change Management process.
  • Ensure all time, cost, quality & weight targets are monitored, managed & met.
  • Communicate effectively & professionally with Customers, Suppliers & Colleagues.
  • Deputise for Engineering Manager as required.
  • Occasional international travel is likely to support our broad customer base.

Skills & Experience

  • Recent experience of using Siemens SolidEdge CAD a distinct advantage.
  • Proven track record of managing projects from concept through to manufacture.
  • Mechanical engineering degree (or equivalent experience)
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal & written.
  • Team player, enthusiastic with a positive ‘can do’ attitude.
  • Ability to work under pressure, to multi-task & manage own time to meet required deadlines.
  • Aircraft Cabin Interior Engineering Experience would be a bonus but is not essential.
