BAE Systems is hiring a Senior Manufacturing Engineer – Dimensional Management to work in Barrow-in-Furness. The successful candidate will work closely with Design Engineering to manage quality characteristics in design outputs, assess producibility, and support the design and development of products. They will also introduce new tools and processes related to dimensional capability. Essential qualifications include an HNC or equivalent experience in a STEM discipline, a detailed understanding of dimensional measurement systems, and the ability to interpret engineering drawings. Desirable qualifications include an understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing and experience working on large scale engineering projects. Job Description:Job Title: Senior Manufacturing Engineer – Dimensional Management

Salary: Negotiable, depending on experience
What you’ll be doing:
Work closely with Design Engineering to identify and manage key quality characteristics in design outputs
Assess the Producibility of design outputs and provide recommendations based on manufacturing capability
Assess tolerances, datums and GD&T to support the design and development of the product
Work with the build strategy team to identify inspection hold points in the build sequence
Introduce new tools and processes relating to dimensional capability across the business
Your skills and experiences:
Essential:
HNC or equivalent experience in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline
Detailed understanding of dimensional measurement systems and metrology principles
Ability to interpret engineering drawings and / or CAD models
Desirable:
Excellent understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing
Experience working on large scale bespoke engineering projects
Understanding of Submarines Build Strategy

The Manufacturing Engineering Team:
As a part of the Manufacturing Engineering team, you will be working on SSN-AUKUS programme in its early design lifecycle. You will play a pivotal role in assessing key product characteristics and generating plans to manage these throughout build, helping to reduce variation, ultimately reducing lead times and cost to the business and the customer.
