Haygrove is looking for a Label Printer Level 1 or 2 professional to play a vital role in ensuring that labels for markets and supermarkets are printed accurately and efficiently. In this role, you will be responsible for printing labels according to customer specifications, ensuring minimal waste, and maintaining an organized, safe working environment. You will work closely with the QA team to ensure all labels meet the required standards and are printed in a timely manner to keep the production line running smoothly. Your attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and ability to work within a team will be essential in meeting the company’s quality and efficiency goals. This role requires someone who is proactive, able to plan ahead, and works well under pressure in a dynamic environment.
*Key accountabilities of the role*
*Label Printing and Quality Control:*
* Ensure that all personal protective equipment (PPE) is worn correctly (hairnet, overall, clean hands) before entering the production area, in compliance with food safety regulations.
* Attend the morning staff meeting and align with the team on daily tasks.
* Ensure the supermarket back-sheet is updated daily and inform the team of any changes.
* Print labels as quickly and accurately as possible to avoid running out of labels on the production line.
* Verify the accuracy of printed labels, including barcodes, and ensure they match the back-sheet specifications.
* Record all label wastage in the system every day and complete the packaging form in Excel.
* Ensure the correct labels are printed for orders, based on the packing plan.
* Keep an updated stock record of labels, and proactively manage stock levels to prevent shortages or excess.
* Calibrate the scanner at the beginning of each month.
* Maintain an organized and safe label room, ensuring no untrained staff enter or collect labels.
* Report any machine issues or malfunctions immediately to the QA team leader or manager.
*Operational Efficiency:*
* Plan ahead and understand the packing plan to ensure labels are ready on time.
* Always check if the correct labels are printed against the back-sheet before proceeding.
* Use the correct labels for each customer and ensure all packaging requirements are met.
* Record and monitor label waste, setting new targets for reduction when possible.
* Participate in team meetings to discuss packaging needs and align on targets and plans.
* Ensure all labels are printed in line with customer requirements, including packaging types, labels, and additional items such as tray talkers and punnets.
* Keep track of label orders and place new orders according to lead times and manager instructions.
* Rotate packaging stock and inform the manager of any label design changes or potential issues.
*Teamwork and Communication:*
* Work collaboratively within a team and maintain a positive relationship with colleagues at all times.
* Support the team in meeting targets and provide feedback to the manager on team performance.
* Communicate effectively with the QA team to ensure printing aligns with quality requirements.
* Offer training to new staff as needed and provide guidance on proper label printing procedures.
*Safety and Compliance:*
* Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations at all times, particularly in the label printing room.
* Report accidents, near misses, and safety hazards to the QA team leader and area manager.
* Maintain a clean and tidy workspace to minimize risks and ensure a safe working environment.

*Experience*
* Previous experience in a production or packaging environment is preferred.
* Good knowledge of customer packaging requirements and label printing procedures.
* Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
* Ability to handle equipment and manage label printing processes efficiently.
* Proficient in using Excel for reporting and tracking label waste.
* Knowledge of health and safety regulations and food safety standards.
