A female support worker is needed in Leamington Spa to provide tailored support to a young woman. The ideal candidate must have a thorough understanding of various conditions, including autism and PTSD, and possess a valid driver’s license. Responsibilities will include allergy awareness, autism understanding, sensory issues, community engagement, mental health support, challenging behavior management, advocacy, daily tasks, and collaboration with medical professionals. Previous experience and understanding of Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA) are desirable. Female Support Worker
Location: Leamington Spa
Salary: £15 per hour

We are currently seeking a compassionate and dedicated Female Support Worker to provide tailored support to a young woman living in Leamington Spa. The ideal candidate will have a thorough understanding of autism, dyspraxia, ADHD, anxiety, depression, and PTSD, with a specific awareness of Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA). The candidate must possess a valid driving license and have access to a car.
Responsibilities:
- Allergy Awareness: Be vigilant and responsive to the individual’s allergies, ensuring a safe and supportive environment.
- Autism Understanding: Demonstrate a deep understanding of autism, offering support to help the individual adjust to changes and navigate social situations.
- Sensory Issues: Be sensitive to and knowledgeable about sensory issues, adapting support strategies accordingly.
- Community Engagement: Support the individual in accessing the community, facilitating social interactions, and fostering a sense of belonging.
- Mental Health Support: Provide support during mental health crises, offering emotional support and guidance. Knowledge and experience in managing self-harm incidents are essential.
- Challenging Behaviour Management: Utilize de-escalation techniques to manage challenging behaviours and aggression, ensuring the safety and well-being of the individual.
- Advocacy: Act as an advocate for the individual, ensuring their voice is heard and respected in interactions with medical professionals and other relevant parties.
- Daily Tasks: Assist with day-to-day activities such as preparing meals, prompting hygiene practices, and maintaining a clean living environment.
- Collaboration with Medical Professionals: Work collaboratively with medical professionals to implement and monitor care plans, providing necessary updates and feedback.
Requirements:
- Previous experience in supporting individuals with autism, dyspraxia, ADHD, anxiety, depression, and PTSD is desirable.
- Understanding of Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA).
- Valid driver’s license and access to a car.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to adapt to changing situations and environments.
- Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude.
- Ability to handle challenging situations with a calm and composed demeanour.

The refer a friend scheme is worth £200 in total. This is split £100 after the person has worked 100 hours and then another £100 when they have passed probation (6 months usually).
