Details of this position:

This position is for a full time Manufacturing Workshop Instructor in prison education.

We’re seeking a practical and motivated Manufacturing Instructor to manage our busy prison workshop – a dynamic space where metal goods are produced to industry standards, and individuals gain the skills and discipline needed for employment and rehabilitation.

  • Deliver comprehensive workshop inductions with a strong focus on health, safety, and tool control

  • Lead and supervise daily workshop operations, including task allocation and workflow management

  • Set and uphold clear quality standards, monitoring output and ensuring production targets are met

  • Provide practical and soft skills training, supporting personal and professional development

Work schedule: Full time 38.5 hours per week

Salary scale: Up to £28,000 per annum

Annual leave: 30 days per annum

To be considered, suitable candidates will need to meet the following criteria:

  • Hands-on experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment

  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills, with the ability to motivate and guide others

  • A solid understanding of health & safety regulations and risk assessment procedures

Suitable candidates will need to be enthusiastic, resilient and have a humanistic approach.
