Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Setting Out Engineer who will be responsible for setting out levels, drainage, and foundations on a major project in Hemel Hempstead.
The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring accurate measurements and alignment of structures, contributing to the overall success of the project.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Conduct precise setting out activities using total stations, GPS equipment, or other surveying instruments.
2. Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documents to accurately set out levels for drainage systems and foundations.
3. Collaborate with site managers, engineers, architects, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment with project plans.
4. Monitor site progress regularly by conducting surveys during different stages of construction.
5. Ensure compliance with health & safety regulations at all times by implementing safe working practices.
6. Keep accurate records of all setting out activities performed on-site.
Qualifications:
– Minimum 5 years of experience as a Setting Out Engineer within the construction industry.
– Proficiency in operating total stations or GPS equipment along with associated software (e.g., AutoCAD).
– In-depth knowledge of setting out techniques for levels determination on drainage systems and foundation placement.
– Strong understanding of relevant health & safety regulations within the construction industry.
Skills/Competencies:
1. Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze complex information related to engineering drawings or specifications.
2. Strong attention to detail ensuring precise measurements when performing setting out activities.
3. Effective communication skills enabling clear instructions delivery while collaborating with various stakeholders involved in the project.
4. Adaptable mindset allowing flexibility when dealing with changes or unexpected challenges that may arise during construction.
5. Relevant degree or diploma qualification in Civil Engineering or related field would be advantageous but not mandatory.
6. Valid CSCS card
