48Job Description:We are seeking an enthusiastic and reliable Yard Operative to join our client’s team at their bustling and growing merchants. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a similar environment and hold a valid Forklift Truck (FLT) license. This role involves maintaining the yard, assisting customers, and ensuring the safe and efficient handling of materials.

Hours: Monday to Friday 7:30am – 5pm
Hourly Pay: £11.44
Temporary role with potential to become permanent.

Key Responsibilities:

• Loading and unloading goods from delivery vehicles using the forklift truck. Ensure all materials are stored safely and correctly in a timely manner
• Assisting customers with locating and loading materials, providing excellent service and support to ensure a positive experience
• Keep accurate records of stock movements. Conduct regular stock checks and report discrepancies, and safeguarding against loss/theft
• Ensure the yard is kept clean, tidy, and free from hazards. Perform routine maintenance checks on equipment and report any safety concerns to the Yard Manager
• Work closely with other team members to support the smooth operation of the yard and the wider business

The Ideal Candidate:

• Must have a valid FLT license
• Previous experience in a yard operative role, preferably within a merchants or similar environment would be helpful but not essential
• Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting and moving heavy materials
• Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively and professionally
• Have strong attention to detail-, with the ability to maintain accurate records and follow company procedures
• Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and contribute to a positive team environment
• Strong understanding of health and safety regulations and a commitment to maintaining a safe working environment
