An Assistant Bars Manager within the Conference and Events Operations Team supports the Bars Manager to offer a high quality, efficient beverage service that adds to a superior Guest experience and is in accordance with licensing regulations associated with alcoholic beverages.

What will I be doing?

As Assistant Bars Manager, you will support the Bars Manager in managing all aspects of the liquor operation within the conference and events operations department. This includes bar and liquor service for all hotel events as well as liquor ordering and stock control.As a newly created position this role offers a fantastic opportunity to help build a brand new team, develop the operating standards and totally shape the sub-department.Specifically, you will be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards:

Support the Bars Manager to manage the bar and wine operations for meetings, events, exhibitions and banquets for between 10 to 1500 guests.

Manage, train and develop the Bars team

Comply with licensing regulations and hotel procedures relating to the bar and service of alcoholic beverages and conduct staff training sessions accordingly

Support with effective revenue forecasting, maximise revenue and increase average spend per person through upselling, high customer service standards, effective training and motivational techniques

Implement service standards and ensure they are monitored and continuously evaluated,with an emphasis on high quality and efficiency.

Evaluate guest satisfaction levels with a focus on continuous improvement and ensure the sub department targets are met

Awareness of industry trends and propose ideas to build and expand the range and quality of services offered

Maintain costs in line with sub department targets, identifying any areas for action

Support the Bars Manager to ensure stock takes are carried out in a timely manner to ensure food and beverage cost control targets and profit margins are maintained

Maintain good communication and work relationships in all hotel areas and with external customers and suppliers

Ensure staffing levels meet business and are in line with payroll targets

Deal with sudden staff shortages through absenteeism and report all absences according to Company Attendance Procedures

Ensure training is carried out on an ongoing basis

Carry out detailed team member briefings

Ensure post event reports are generated and communicated

Manage staff performance issues in compliance with company policies and procedures

Plan logistics of equipment specifics for events

Ensure compliance with and the proper training of Team Members so that all Company Health and Safety, and Fire Regulations and procedures are understand and applied

Bar/Liquor Management or supervisory experience in a hotel or events venue

Degree or diploma in Hotel Management or equivalent

Passion for delivering exceptional levels of guest service

Personal Liquor Licence
