Shunter Driver/Yard Operative

The position of Shunter & Yard Operative in Grays, Essex, offers a full-time, permanent role with competitive pay ranging from £11.44 to £16.01 per hour. *Shunter & Yard Operative*
*Location:* Grays, Essex

*Working Hours:* Monday to Friday

*Purpose*
To move trailers safely around the yard and to the required destinations. You will also maintain and repair to a measured quality standard, the Heavy Goods trailers of the TIP rental fleet, and its customers’ own trailers at TIP workshops.
*Responsibilities:*
* Presentation of TIP assets for MOT testing to an onsite ATF lane (off-site)
* Voluntary brake testing
* Loading of weight for mot preparation
* Yard shunting and workshop shunting
* Liaising with DVSA personnel and third parties on the ATF lane
* Forklift duties
* Telehandler duties
* General yard duties, including cleaning, painting and general repairs
* Assistance with small trailer repairs
* Cleaning of trailers
* MOT Steam cleaning
* Ensure all compliance details are completed in an accurate and timely manner
* Ensure all company vehicles are driven and operated at all times in accordance with road traffic law and company policy
* Undertake all required training as deemed necessary by the company
* Provide a high customer service level & demonstrate company values at all times
* Highlight all potential business commercial opportunities to managers
* The role will involve possible shift working, including weekends.

Qualifications/Requirements:*
* HGV class 1 licence
* Forklift licence desirable
* High level of enthusiasm & good communication skills
* Basic knowledge of computers and ability to complete relevant written documentation
* Have a customer and team centric mindset and high level of professionalism
* Good organisational skills and ability to be able to prioritise workloads to meet deadlines
* Initiative to work autonomously if required.
