Position: Specialist SEN Teaching Assistant
A reputable SEN special school in Rugeley is currently seeking a dedicated Specialist Teaching Assistant to support students with complex needs and SEMH. This is a full-time position starting after February half-term and continuing until the end of the academic year.
Responsibilities:
- Provide tailored support to secondary age students with complex needs and SEMH.
- Assist students in achieving their individual targets and academic goals.
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Collaborate effectively with the school’s multidisciplinary team.
- Prepare learning materials that are appropriate for the student ability and age.
- Adapt teaching support according to students needs
- Look after the children’s physical, social and emotional welfare.
- Creating a positive and interesting learning environment.
- Attend review meetings with other professionals.
- Work along side other professional such as speech and language therapists and health visitors
Requirements:
- Proven experience supporting secondary age students with additional needs.
- Track record of successfully supporting students in achieving their individual targets.
- Understanding and familiarity with complex needs and SEMH.
- A compassionate and patient approach to supporting students.
- Hold a minimum of a level 2 in Health and Social Care or similar qualification
- Able to provide a minimum of a 2 years worth of references.
- Hold an enhanced DBS or willing to apply for a new one
