92Job Description:Amazon is seeking an experienced and business orientedEngineering Project Manager to coordinate the planning, design andexecution efforts of highly complex logistic process solutions forthe continued expansion of our EU Customer Fulfilment network.Ideal candidates will have Engineering Program and ProjectManagement experience combined with an established technicalproblem solving ability as well as Value Engineering experience.The role will understand all aspects of an Amazon Fulfilment Centerwhile focusing on its automation technologies (conveyance,sortation, robotics) and storage solutions. This person will beresponsible for planning, designing and delivering state-of-the-artmaterial handling systems and innovations while coordinatinginternal teams and external vendors in order to effectively executeRetrofits, Initiatives and Expansions (REIs) in existing sites.
Key jobresponsibilities
– End-to-end ownership for small tomedium scale engineering projects (planning, design, installation,commissioning and qualification, launch support)
– Divedeep on technical details and provide value engineering andinnovative solutions to drive frugality and continuousimprovements
– Lead technical design reviews and proposedesign solutions for material handling and storage solutions thatmeet both business needs and global design standards
-Create, submit and track relevant CAPEX requests (Capital Planning)to ensure that all projects are delivered within budget and bestoverall value
– Assess and communicate project status,drive escalations on potential risks and delays across multipleteams
– Assist in providing equipment specifications andtechnical support to Procurement, Change Management and otherbusiness partners for best value and competition
-Collaborate closely with various internal teams such as World WideEngineering, Construction, Operations, Reliability MaintenanceEngineering, Procurement and Change Management
– Supportstandardisation, qualification and launch of external fulfilmentsites, while closely collaborating with External Fulfilment (EF)business partners.
Aday in the life
You will work on the delivery of one ofour Amazon Fulfillment Centers with a project lifecyle of about ayear as part of a high-performing team. During the early projectphases of project design and bidding, you will predominantly workin an Amazon office or from your home. During the projectexecution, you will be typically spend execution 50% of your timeat the project site, with peaks throughout the year, extending tomost week days with full ownership during the last phases ofproject installation, Commissioning & Qualification and postLaunch ramp up. You will enjoy the rewarding experience to launchan Amazon Fulfillment Center or to upgrade an existing one. Afterinitial months onboarding, you will be progressively givenimportant and extending responsibilities, within the project andaside it, by taking the lead on other business horizontal tasks.You will be constantly helped by the team, will respect andleverage diverse point of views and focus on inclusion of newmembers.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS-Bachelor or Master Degree in Engineering or related disciplineExperience interacting with cross-functional teams &subject-matter experts
– Proven Project/ProgramManagement experience in comparable industrialenvironments
– Experience using MS Excel, CADBIM relatedsoftwares, MS Project
– Advanced proficiency in verbaland written in English
– Flexibility to travel up to 50%across projects in Europe
– Knowledge about automatedmaterial handling systems, packaging technologies and storagesolutions
PREFERREDQUALIFICATIONS- Project execution experience in aconstruction environment (new build) or operational environment(buildout)
– Ability to lead internal teams to delivercross-functional programs and manager vendor relations
-Knowledge about automated material handling systems, packagingtechnologies and storage solutions
– Comprehensiveunderstanding of operational as well as reliability and maintenanceprocesses including relevant software tools
– German,French, Polish, Arabic, Turkish are considered preferredqualification.
